Whole Foods Market to anchor Fern Marketplace
Read King Commercial Real Estate has announced plans for a 30 acre master planned high-end retail development at the intersection of 70th and Fern Avenue. The 36,150 square foot Whole Foods Market will anchor the first phase of the development, which is scheduled to open in early 2015. In addition to Whole Foods Market, the first phase will include another 39,250 square feet of high-end retail and restaurants.
The second phase will consist of approximately 200,000 square feet of additional anchor retail, office and small shop space. This will be Read King's second Whole Foods Market anchored development and the first in Louisiana. Managing Partner Jeff Read was quoted as saying, "We are very excited to be associated with Whole Foods Market and the opportunity to bring a quality development to the Shreveport market. Our leasing staff has been overwhelmed with interest from other quality tenants inquiring about being a part of the project. We are also very thankful that the family who owns this property shares our vision for Fern Marketplace."
JoAnn Wheless, Associate Broker with Sealy Real Estate Services, is the representing broker for Querbes Land Company, L.L.C. in the sale of the land and Ryan Orr with Read King is representing the buyer. Rick Kirschman, with Kirschman Realty, represented Whole Foods Market.
