Founded by Jeff Read and Ewing King more than 25 years ago, the firm’s expertise includes investment and development strategies, shopping center and build-to-suit development, leasing, tenant representation, property management, land sales and dispositions. The two founders seek to continue to give their direct attention to the integrity of the customer experience as well as the well-being and productivity of their dedicated management and staff.

Jeff Read

Jeff Read co-founded Read King Commercial Real Estate in 1991. Building upon the retail platform, in 2011 Mr. Read co-founded and serves as managing partner of Read King Medical Development, a full service consulting, tenant representation, financing and development platform focused on build-to-suit opportunities for health care clients. Mr. Read has managed the development of over two million square feet of retail and medical for clients such as Whole Foods, HEB, Walmart, Texas Children’s Hospital, Walgreens, Health One (HCA), Neighbors Emergency Centers, Davita Dialysis, and IHOP.

Jeff is a native Houstonian and has been active in retail brokerage and development since 1982. He received a BBA in Finance/Real Estate from Baylor University and is currently involved in numerous industry, social and charitable organizations.

Ewing King

Ewing King serves as a Principal responsible for real estate development operations. Ewing brings over 25 years of high quality retail development expertise and leadership to the firm. He spearheads projects that combine the latest innovations and designs to integrate with communities and their needs. Ewing has a particular expertise in acquisition, design, construction and real estate portfolio management. He has time spent on a variety of development and redevelopment projects as well as representing national clients. Ewing has a BBA in real estate and finance from Baylor University.

Charles Scoville

Charles brings over 30 years of broad shopping center industry experience to his role as Chief Operating Officer for Read King. Over the course of his career, Charles has been engaged in all aspects of retail development, acquisitions, property management, leasing, and dispositions for hundreds of centers throughout the southwest, southeast, and midwest United States. In that time, he has served in senior leadership roles for national development and investment firms including both privately owned and publicly traded companies such as Transwestern, AmREIT, and Hines. His range of experience, his operational expertise, and the strength of his relationships across the industry and the nation will allow him to support and significantly contribute to Read King’s accelerating growth.

Charles is a native of Weatherford, Texas and a graduate of Southern Methodist University.

Blake Allen
Chief Financial Officer

Blake Allen joined Read King in 2007 and currently serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. He is a member of the Executive Committee and oversees all aspects related to the financial platform, lending relationships and joint venture partnerships. Mr. Allen is responsible for all capital raising activities including construction financing, long term permanent financing and investment sales. He serves as investor relations for all partnerships and plays an integral role in establishing the economic viability of potential developments.

During his tenure at Read King, he has successfully secured over $750MM in project financing and facilitated over $300MM in sales transactions. He is critically involved in establishing the direction of the firm and has the ability to recognize opportunities in all business cycles. Blake earned his BBA in Finance, Marketing and Real Estate from Texas Christian University.

Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson serves as Read King’s Executive Vice President. She has strategic and operational responsibility for the organization, providing leadership for the Company’s corporate teams including development, property management, accounting, human resources, administration and office management. She also serves as a member of the Executive Team.

Kim brings over 20 years of financial and operational experience to Read King, having served as Chief Financial Officer of a commercial construction company and a full service real estate development and investment firm. In addition, she was a real estate audit senior manager at Ernst & Young. Kim has a BBA in Accounting and Organizational Behavior/Business Policy from Southern Methodist University.

Deann Lanz
General Counsel

As General Counsel and a key advisor, Deann is responsible for facilitating all real estate transactions for the company, including acquisitions, land use, development, construction, exchange, financing, leasing and sales transactions, as well as providing legal and business counsel on all corporate matters.  Prior to joining Read King, Deann was the Vice President of Land for Clean Line Energy Partners and BP Wind Energy North America, where she helped facilitate the development, partnering, finance, construction and operation of over $1 billion worth of energy generation assets.  Prior to working in renewable energy, Deann served as counsel for Mayer Brown law firm.  Deann spent more than a decade representing Fortune 500 companies in all aspects of  improved and unimproved real estate, including large multi-asset portfolio transactions.

Deann graduated Magna Cum Laude from Valparaiso University and obtained her Juris Doctor, Summa Cum Laude from Tulane Law School.  She was named a “Top Lawyer” by H Texas Magazine four years in a row and was named a “Texas Rising Star” by Texas Monthly Magazine.  Deann volunteers in the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church community.

Tim Delgado

Tim Delgado serves as President of Read King Medical Development. Tim is a veteran of the healthcare and medical real estate development industry, and has worked closely with several major hospital systems and physician groups on healthcare developments of all types and sizes. Tim's experience includes projects consisting of Hospitals, Free-Standing Emergency Departments, Urgent Care Facilities, Medical Clinics, Medical Office Buildings, Seniors Independent, Assisted and Memory Care Living Facilities, and Mixed-Use Developments. Tim is a licensed Real Estate Broker and previously played professional baseball for 11 years with the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians.  

Jay Jenckes

Jay Jenckes brings over 15 years of commercial real estate experience to his role as Vice President of Read King Medical Development (RKMD). He is a native Houstonian, and graduated from Dartmouth College before attending University of Texas McCombs School of Business.

During the course of his career, Jay has been involved in all aspects of commercial real estate from ground-up development to sales, leasing, build-to-suit design and construction, investment sales and acquisitions, rezoning, environmental remediation, and title dispute resolution. Jay brings a wealth of experience to RKMD and is focused on studying key market data to better predict current trends that may impact RKMD clients. He is committed to making integrity a cornerstone of all client relationships to ensure the best possible outcome for his healthcare clients.

Ryan Orr

Ryan Orr joined Read King in 2004 as a broker actively working on project leasing, tenant representation, and disposition services. Ryan plays an integral role in identifying and brokering new development opportunities for Read King as well as leading the brokerage team for Read King Medical Development. Ryan has been directly involved in the sale or lease of over 2,000,000 SF of space on various retail and medical projects.

Originally from Charlotte, NC, Ryan relocated to Texas to attend Baylor University where he earned a BBA in Finance. After making Houston his home upon graduation, he has become an active member of the community spending his time volunteering with local charities such as Boys and Girls Country, Yellowstone Academy, and the Star of Hope. Ryan is an active member of ICSC, serving on ICSC’s Next Generation Committee. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, watching Baylor sports, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Cort King

Cort King joined Read King in 2008 as a leasing agent specializing in project leasing, tenant representation and dispositions.  A fourth generation Houstonian in the real estate industry, Cort brings strong market knowledge and relationships to his clients.

Cort received his BA in Economics from the University of Texas and interned at the Weitzman Group while attending school.  Cort is an active ICSC member and a Texas Exes Houston Chapter board member.  In his spare time Cort enjoys playing golf.

Ron Lindsey

Ron Lindsey serves as Executive Vice President of Development and leads the Development Division which is responsible for all development and construction projects within Read King, including those sponsored by Read King Medical Development. The development team creates value through visioning, planning and implementing multifaceted solutions that maximize the performance of the projects.

Ron has more than 35 years of experience in real estate development, finance, management and leasing. Over the course of his career, Ron has held executive positions in publicly traded and privately held companies spanning from CFO to VP. His project portfolio Includes 9 million square feet of retail, residential, mixed use, land development and office projects.

Ron graduated from the Honors Program at the UT-Austin BBA in Accounting and pursued post-baccalaureate studies in Federal Income Taxation at UT-Austin. He is a licensed CPA and Real Estate Broker in Texas and holds memberships in ICSC and ULI. In addition, Ron has been involved in the Houston Real Estate Council for over 15 years and has served in all officer positions for HREC, including president.

David Lecky

With more than 35 years of development and construction experience David Lecky brings a complete knowledge of development and construction process to the Read King Development and Construction team. David Lecky oversees all of the firm’s development and construction activities for the Medical and Retail Teams.

During his career David has constructed more than 8 million square feet of retail, 8 thousands multi-family apartment/condo units, 3 million square feet of commercial and public office buildings and sport complexes. David has been a top construction executive for several local, regional and national construction/development companies such as Brown & Root, Swinerton Building, Tribble & Stephens, Hanover Company, Fidelis Realty Partners, and Read King. He has built for every regional grocery chain and most junior anchor retail stores including Fiesta, HEB, Kroger, Randall’s, Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Ross, Marshalls, Michaels, Old Navy, Burlington, Academy, PetSmart, and others. He is a member current or past member of International Council of Shopping Centers, NACORE, IDRC, NAIOP, BOMA, AGC, and ABC.

Osagie John Okpamen

Osagie John Okpamen joined Read King in 2012 and serves as Development Manager. His primary responsibilities include sourcing, programming, designing and execution of projects on our retail and medical platforms. Osagie is a detail-oriented architecture and planning professional with substantial experience directing architects, engineers, consultants and contractors in developing innovative user experiences. He has worked extensively with various multi-million dollar private and public organizations on their national real estate expansion strategies.

Upon graduating from Prairie View A&M University with a Masters of Architecture, Osagie spent several years working with local architecture firms before joining Read King. Over the span of his career, Osagie, has been directly involved in the design, development, and construction of over 1.5 million square feet of commercial buildings. He is a member of several professional associations, and he actively serves in his local community and church.

Matthew Camp

Matthew Camp joined Read King in 2015 as a Development Manager. He works with both medical and retail clients to manage and execute the development of freestanding medical facilities and retail centers in markets throughout the state of Texas and beyond.

Prior to joining Read King Matthew worked for a local architecture firm as a licensed architect and brings over 18 years of experience of design and construction knowledge to Read King. He has worked on institutional, residential, multi family, commercial, and industrial projects as a designer and project manager. His work with the Congress for New Urbanism has allowed him to specialize in urban mixed use development. He graduated Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Environmental Design and the University of Southern California with a Master of Architecture.

Julie Ward

Julie is a Development Manager for Read King who utilizes her organization, forecasting, and excellent communication skills to build, execute, and manage project plans.  She creates structured schedules and strategies based on project goals, resources needed, potential risks, time to market, and budget constraints.  Julie is also responsible for tracking and adapting these plans based on evolving needs or issues that may arise to ensure on-time, high quality delivery of the project.

Prior to joining Read King, Julie has worked for top ranked architecture and development firms throughout the country. She received her Bachelors and Master’s degree of Architecture from Tulane University, is a registered Architect, LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction, Construction Document Technologist, and a loving mother of three.  Julie is actively involved in her church and community and can be found serving on the board of various local organizations.

Austin Read
Development Associate

Austin joined Read King in 2015 as a development associate. His primary role is coordinating and assisting tenants during their entire buildout process. Austin also assists Read King’s development department with various aspects of design and project management.

Before joining Read King he worked on multiple projects in the construction and real estate development industries. Knowledge and skills learned from his past experience make him a valuable member of our team. Austin received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Texas A&M’s Mays Business School.

Kenya James
Senior Property Manager

Kenya James serves as Senior Property Manager of Read King. Kenya’s primary focus is the daily overall operations of the properties. She brings a wealth of commercial real estate experience in managing diverse assets. Prior to joining Read King, Kenya oversaw 1.5 million square feet and directly managed .5 million square feet of commercial office and retail space. Kenya remains current on industry trends by aligning with BOMA and IREM. She is an active member of Lakewood Church and enjoys spending time with family & serving the community.

Tabitha Beaty-Garcia

Tabitha Beatty-Garcia is a Senior Accountant for Read King.  In this role, she oversees the coordination and reporting of financial activities for all corporate assets as well as all third-party properties managed by Read King. Her responsibilities include monthly financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, tenant reconciliations, and draw schedules.

Tabitha, a native Houstonian, began her accounting career in the legal field after receiving a BBA in Administrative Management. She has had the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of industries, and most recently worked over three years in real estate before joining Read King.

Daniella Mayorga

Daniella Mayorga is a Senior Accountant at Read King. She is responsible for the complex accounting and financial reporting on third-party management and company owned assets.

Daniella assists with cash management, bank reconciliations, and all financial transactions related to the monthly close. Daniella is from Nicaragua and graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX where she received her Bachelor degree in Finance. She started her career as an Accountant in 2012 working on office and retail/commercial buildings.

Rebecca Sears

Rebecca is the Accounting Coordinator for Read King, where she helps individuals in the company meet goals both financially and operationally.  Rebecca works with property accounting and management, where she interacts daily in a client support function.

Rebecca graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing. Prior to graduation, she interned at a service company where she became familiar with business practices and skilled in customer database management, product marketing, and basic accounting. She also has experience identifying customers’ needs and providing excellent customer service, both in for profit and not for profit environments.

Elizabeth Hunt serves as Read King’s Creative Director of Marketing and Research.  Elizabeth is committed to producing marketing materials of the highest quality, designed to provide clients with a straight forward understanding of our offerings and expertise.  Along with digital marketing communications, Elizabeth is responsible for the conceptualization and design of the website and marketing collateral.

A licensed real estate broker, Elizabeth brings over 12 years of research and marketing experience to Read King. She earned a B.A. from Concordia University in Austin, Texas.  

Sarah Dodds

Sarah began her career in Real Estate when she joined Read King as Marketing Coordinator. With expertise in strategic planning and implementation, research, advertising, social media, and PR she assists our marketing department and brokerage team, striving to add value to Read King and their clients.

A native Houstonian, Sarah moved back to Houston shortly after graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Communications and Marketing.

Shelby Plant

Shelby joined Read King in 2015 as a Marketing Associate.  With past experience in marketing, research, and social media strategy, she assists our marketing department as well as our medical development team, aiming to provide value to our team and clients.

Shelby received a bachelor’s degree in Marketing & Management from Loyola University New Orleans.  Prior to joining Read King, Shelby worked in the retail brokerage department at CBRE.
